Volunteering

Wildwood is often helped by volunteers who assist our teams around the park. We welcome volunteers from a range of different backgrounds and "walks of life" and offer them the opportunity to get hands-on with many different tasks around the park; from cleaning and maintenence to assisting with our animal collection.

Please note that due to the high demand for volunteer places (and limited availabiltiy), we have waiting lists  and may not be able to contact unsuccessful applicants.

Important: All applicants for volunteering or work experience must be over 18yrs

Education


Wildwood is looking to recruit education volunteer s to actively help members of the public ro engage, interact and learn all about our wonderful British native species here at the Park. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with good communicatyion skills, as volunteers need to be able to communicate with and engage w wide variety of people from different cultural backgrounds and of all different ages.

Fundraising

As a charity, Wildwood needs enthusiastic and commited volunteers to assist with our fundraising campaigns.  We often require help with fundraising campaigns to work with our visitors, members and supporters.

Functions: To assist with fundraising campaigns and projects, from collecting donations and handing out promotional material to running fundraising drives.

Keeper Team

Our keeper team welcomes volunteers to help look after our huge number of animals on site, or to complete work experience for an animal management course.  Please note that we have limited spaces for keeper volunteers so there is often a waiting list for these positions.


Functions:  Assisting with the care of our animals including preparing food (including raw meat), clearing out animal waste and keeping enclosures clean and in good condition. The work is demanding and requires a certain level of physical fitness.

Ranger Team

Wildwood is set in many acres of ancient woodland, and needs volunteers to help in keeping this in top condition, as well as helping us to construct and maintain animal enclosures and to keep our facilties for visitors, volunteers and staff in good working order.

Functions:  Helping out with general building and maintenance around the park, including "handy-man" jobs such as painting, fencing, basic joinery and gardening.

Conservation

Our conservation team needs assistance in looking after our water vole captive breeding programme for water voles, as well as helping out with the care of other small mammals. Our conservation volunteers need to have a interest in conservation or be studying a conservation course. Please note that we have limited spaces for conservation volunteers so there is often a waiting list for these positions.

Functions:  Helping out with water vole husbandry, assiting in the care of other small mammals and maintenance of the conservation yard.
